Title: Angelgotchi screws
Description: I can't undo them!

kittyangel - July 23, 2008 11:11 AM (GMT)
I've just bought a pink Angelgotchi from Jason's store off Ebay. I can't get the screws undone to insert some new batteries. What sort of screwdriver did other people use?

EDIT: That's odd - the Angel seems to be working now. It even knows what time it is! But still, I'd like to know for future reference as the Angelgotchi seems to use different screws from the P1 Tamagotchi I found under my bed.

This is the screwdriver I use, folks, and it works a treat!

You definitely need jeweler's screwdrivers to get some Tamagotchis open. And you have to be very careful--press too hard and you could cross-thread the screws! It's important to work slowly and gently, especially with an older Tama where the screws might be really stuck tight.

The right Screwdriver makes all the difference in the world. I would strongly suggest in investing in one. They're less than $10, and when you start purchasing some of the older tamagotchis you run into this problem quite frequently. If you don't use the correct screwdriver for the job it's all too easy for you to strip the heads. I've done that to my first Morino to the point where there was no way it was going to come out. I had to literally break the back of the tamagotchi in order to change the batteries.

Since I've found the perfect screwdriver I've not had any problems. I had a cheaper one a friend gave me that worked wonders but the length of it made it impossible to get the screws out of my Teku Teku Angel Due...My boyfriend works with electronics at work and had a toolkit there so he was able to bring one home for me to test drive it. It solved the problem.

I'm still trying to get him to help me find a place to order replacement screws.... :argh:

The web site says that's a size 00. The screws are size 0. A 00 will fit into them, but you should use a size 0 screwdriver. A size 0 will feel snug - with no slop at all.

OHHH Binary you come through all the time!

Is that how you order the replacement screws? Can you order the replacements?

I'll have to tell him to try and bring home his 0 Screwdriver then so I can give it a test. I might have to order another one. Saying that though the one my friend gave me is a bit snugger BUT it isn't as long so in deep holes it's a bit of a problem. (Think the teku teku angel...)

Seriously though guys...the right screwdriver makes a TON of difference. I use to use really cheap ones that came in like a cheap tool kit and I've ruined so many screws that way with former tamagotchis...when I started up this time around though I've only had the odd one go on me and that was just from the screw being a little soft.

Edit: This is the correct one guys - http://www.drillspot.com/products/132978/W...ips_Screwdriver

(If anyone was seriously ordering one...)

Sorry, I don't know where to get replacement screws from.

I do agree that a real screwdriver is much better than those jeweler's screwdriver sets you by for $1 at the dollar store. The tips on those ones are too soft.

Incidently, the screw on the back of modern model Tamagotchis (Connections, Plus/KeiTama/EnTama/etc.) is size 1. So, if you have a good size 0 screwdriver and a good size 1 screwdriver, you're all set.

I found a site that specializes in tiny screws here, but I have no idea what size or type you'd have to order to get a screw that would fit the Angelgotchi.

I think it might be worthwhile to watch eBay for used/old Tamagotchis. You could use the parts for salvage. Then you'd be sure the screws were the right size.

I have something called an 8-piece precision screwdriver set. It's worked really well for me, through the years. I think it cost $6 or so.

Here's the set I use, as Cyann said, it cost like something around $6 a few years ago when I purchased it from Wal Mart.
