Title: Maybe it's time...
Asiangotchi - February 12, 2009 02:59 AM (GMT)
Hi! I think I have a suggestion, so people will get help, answers to questions, etc. much faster. How about an IM tool to Tama-Zone? I think this would be helpful for those who need urgent help, or if you want to chat with people that are already online... :O:
Well, this is what I'm hoping. Most likely you won't put it up because people might just end up :spam:ing in there, but maybe not? How about it?

First of all, the spamming thing is correct. Plus, it costs money to do this. Also, if some members need to chat, they can just use the PM system; a chat server would slow down tama-zone.

If someone is online who knows the answer your question, they'll just post in your topic.

Chat boxes need to be monitored all the time to prevent bad language/spamming. Tama-Talk has a chat service for tamagotchi owners.
http://www.tamatalk.com/IB/TamaChat/index.phpIf you have an 'urgent' question that needs answering, it is very unlikely that nobody would be online here to answer it.
You certainly wouldn't have to wait more than a couple of hours for a reply, as this is quite an active forum, and has a large core of knowledgeable staff too.
I believe in the very early days, this forum had a chat-box, however it was quickly removed due to abuse.

So maybe a shoutbox? It hasn't to be monitored all the time, cause several dozen of messages are saved and you have to just look sometimes at it. There are many websites which gave you free components on your site such as shoutboxes.

I don't think the forum would benefit from additions such as those mentioned here. It works fine as it is and has for years - "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Yes, I agree!
What's wrong with using the PM system and PMing the person personally about stuff?
Sure that's what I do.
You can delete them all when you're done and save space and control your PM system, whereas the chat box would be too chaotic!
I don't think we'd ever get one anyway, as people would probably talk too much non-Tama stuff on Tama-Zone!
It would just be defeating the purpose, wouldn't it?
Asiangotchi - February 12, 2009 11:51 PM (GMT)
Well I'm just saying, an immediate response to questions.
Plus, I asked a few questions a while back ago, and I had to wait a day for my answer... :O:
Well it seems a lot of people are disagreeing. But that's okay.

according to your post history, the last time you asked a support question it was answered in 7 minutes.

The longest time you took to receive an answer (from what I can see) is 48 minutes
http://tama-zone.com/index.php?showtopic=18590If you want to make out you are not getting answers quickly, why not provide proof?
What's to say having a chat box will get you an answer more quickly?
We're not robots here, and no forum will ever be able to provide an immediate personal answer from a real person. We all live in different time-zones, and what's a convenient time for you, may be the middle of the night for someone else.
EDIT: Well, as I posted this a whole 12 hours ago, and you have had plenty of time to reply.......
