Just out of randomness, how do you know which cocoon you have on the Morino Tamagotchi? Like A, B, C, or D?

You can't, the only way to tell is after you've gotten an Adult, then checking against the growth chart to see which cocoon you had.

Aww. Ah well, as I recall someone saying somewhere, ther vintage Tamagotchis aren't as predictable as the modern ones.

Maybe this question wuld actually be more suitable:
Does the weight or anything of the character BEFORE going into the cocoon decide what cocoon you have? Or is it completely random?

It's not random. The cocoons are seperated by health.
Heavier characters will get you healthier adults.
