Title: Different Versions of Japanese P2
Description: Packaging Differences?

Pozhar - June 23, 2009 02:22 AM (GMT)
Okay, I could've sworn I saw something on this somewhere, but I cannot find it to save my life. x_x Apologies if it's something super-obvious that I'm missing. ^^;;

Anywho, I need to know how to tell the differences between the different versions of Japanese P2s. I'm really interested in getting one of the ones that has Nyatchi, and as far as I can remember, there's some difference in the packaging that lets you know which version is which. I'm not too concerned about differences in the Tamas themselves; just the packages (for I am OCD and won't buy anything if it's not in a sealed package ~_~).

Any help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated. :) Thanks in advance.

The difference is shell design, actually. This image should be helpful:

Left page is Version 1, right page is Version 2 with Nyatchi.

Here are some notes I made to myself when I was looking for one each of a P1, P2 series 1, and P2 series 2.

Japanese P1
Packaging Card: mostly yellow (flames pouring out of space ship)
LCD background: checkered
Shell patterns:
ocean blue (light blue body, pink buttons & border, pink random numbers)
blue (blue body, yellow buttons & border, clock face)
pink (light red body, blue buttons & border, clock face)
orange (peach-orange body, yellow buttons & border, Tamagotchi banner across the top held by two characters)
white (white body & frame, black buttons)
see-through blue (transparent blue body, yellow buttons)
peppermint (light blue-green body, yellow buttons & border, Tamagotchi banner across the top held by two characters)
swirls (white body, blue buttons & frame, light blue & light red swirls)
transparent pink (transparent light red body & frame, yellow buttons, clock face)

Japanese P2

Series 2 Packaging Card: mostly light blue & green (the earth) with a white background. "Tamagotch" (no "i" on the end) at top, blue blob over Tamagotchi toy.
Note: both Series 1 & 2 later sold with "Tamagotchi" ("i" at the end) at top, and blue blob over Tamagotchi toy.

Ah, awesome, thanks, y'all, that's really helpful. :jump: You have prevented me from buying the wrong version off of eBay, as the one I had been eying was indeed the Nyatchi-less version.
