This probably was already posted somewhere but in any case I've decided to post a guide with pictures.

Underneath the pictures I'll tell you what will happen depending on what button you press when that screen appears on your Tamagotchi. I might have missed out a few screens and a few button presses, so please tell me if I'm wrong or missed out anything.

I'm using a Tamagotchi Connexion version 4 from Australia for this example.

What do I mean by "ROM Test"? you'll want to know. It's just the factory tests, really. But you can try them out if you want to.

I would also like to add that if you do the connection test, the other Tamagotchi will either get a Nazotchi (for older versions) or an egg (probably for connecting with other v4s) in their friends' lists. For some reason, I connected with a v1 and a Nazotchi replaced one of my current egg-friends (instead of just adding to the list) and once a Batafuraitchi/Butterflytchi appeared in my v1's friends list, despite the fact that Batafuraitchi isn't even supposed to be on the v1! (Maybe Batafuraitchi is on the v1... if you debug it. I know you're probably thinking Connexions can't be debugged but I'll just tell you right now that I have seen a debug panel on the Connexions here in Australia.) Thankyou GK1 for reminding me to add this.

WARNING: This will permanently reset your Tamagotchi so you should only do it if your Tamagotchi has departed and/or you want to restart!

Anyway, to start, just hold down all three buttons. While holding all three buttons press the reset button with a pencil or other long, pointed object (you might need some help holding all the buttons down while you push the reset button). If you've done it correctly, all of the pixels and icons should be lit, as shown below:

This is the first screen you'll see.

-The A button takes you to the next screen. No other buttons will do anything as far as I know.

This is the screen you will see after pressing A.

-The B button takes you to the next screen. No other buttons will do anything as far as I know.

This is the screen you will see after pressing B on the previous screen. Notice this screen is the complete opposite of the previous one.

-The C button takes you to the next screen. Again, as far as I know no other buttons will do anything.

This is the screen you'll see after pressing C on the previous screen.

-The A button takes you to the next screen. Again, as far as I know no other buttons will do anything. And I don't know why I'm repeating myself. And I don't know why I'm repeating myself.

Finally a new screen, here's the version number. Don't ask why there's a Nyatchi. Instead just admire the fact that there's a Nyatchi there!

-Again, you need to press the A button to continue.

Here's the actual ROM Testing screen.

-While you are on this screen buttons will not have any effect. You will have to wait.

This screen should come up after the initial ROM Testing screen.

-Press the A button to continue on to the connection screen.
-Press the B button to restart the ROM Test.
-Press the C button to start the whole thing all over again.

You recognise this screen somewhere, don't you? Yep, it's the communication standby screen- just that the heart icon isn't highlighted.

-Press the A button to continue on to the Connect screen. Notice that no other buttons will work.
-Take another Tamagotchi and connect, choosing "Others" or "Ver.1" if you have a version 2 or higher (version 1 users will not have to select anything). On the other Tamagotchi, press the B button once you are on the Stand By screen.

I bet you know this screen too! I think that if you have a Connexion (NOT an Australian Connexion though) you should see "Proceed" instead.

-Take another Tamagotchi and connect, choosing "Others" or "Ver.1" if you have a version 2 or higher (version 1 users will not have to select anything). The other Tamagotchi should pick up the infrared light and automatically proceed onto the connection screen.
-If you leave your Tamagotchi for long enough in this state you will be shown the "Fail" screen.

If you failed to find anyone to connect with you will see this screen.

-Press A to proceed to the remaining memory screen.
-Press B to return to the Standby screen.
-Press C to return to the ROM Test screen.

If connection was successful you should see this screen.

-Press A to proceed to the remaining memory screen.
-Press B to return to the Standby screen.
-Press C to return to the ROM Test screen.

I believe this screen shows remaining memory left on your Tamagotchi. This screen is shown when you press A on the "GO!!" screen or "Fail" screen.

-Press the A button to continue on to the Sleep screen. As far as I know no other buttons work.

Welcome to what I think is the freakiest screen of the whole factory test thingy. It's called the Sleep screen. You can get here by pressing A on the remaining memory screen.

-Press the A button to reset your Tamagotchi. On mine there is a strange beep, then the screen blanks out and then resets. To my knowledge no other buttons work.
